Welcome from Father Matthew Buchan
Ss Peter & Paul has served the people of Leybourne for around one thousand years.
This is a lively church and we seek to offer a friendly welcome to all who choose to meet with us.
Our church community is made up of many individuals - from all age groups and at different stages of the Christian journey - but all seeking to love and serve God.
We hope you will feel welcomed and relaxed here at Leybourne Church. Fellowship and Community are important elements to church life, and we hope that through the many activities that are on offer in this church, you will grow in your relationship with God, and also build lasting relationships with fellow church members.
‘Almighty God, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find our rest in you…..’
Words from the Anglican prayer book. These words reveal the reality of our humanity, which is that we are all restless, searching for something or someone that will give meaning to our lives.
Christians believe that God calls each one of us into a loving relationship with him, through Jesus Christ, and it is through responding to the love of God, that we as individuals find meaning in our lives.
In the Bible, Jesus spoke of the life he offered people; “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10, 10)
If you would like to know more about the Christian faith, or would like to discuss further how you could be involved in any of the courses or a Home Group which encourage and nurture people in their Christian faith please contact me.
Due to the current pandemic crisis, the 8am Eucharist has been discontinued in order to provide a Covid-Safe environment for the main morning Eucharist, which is now held later in the morning.
The Parish Eucharist is now held at 10.30 am on every Sunday. It is a traditional service, using the Church of England's Common Worship liturgy. Due to the pandemic there is no choir or live music.
Clergy are robed and the gospel is processed. A sermon is given and prayers of intercession offered to God. The service usually lasts just under an hour.
Being Covid-Safe means that there is a restricted congregation with attendance needing to be prebooked. The service is broadcast on-line using ZOOM video conferencing.
Please see the service page for details of how to book a pew and connecting to ZOOM
When we celebrate The Eucharist, it is open to all to receive communion for whom it is their normal practice. Others (including children) are invited to receive a blessing.
As a church we endeavour to be available to people in times of need. For matters of prayer, baptism, marriage or any pastoral concern please contact the Parish Priest or one of the Churchwardens.
For all other queries please contact the Churchwardens
