Events

Since its’ formation 11 years’ ago the “Friends” have raised  over £60,000 towards Church improvements. Its work is overseen by the Church Fundraising Committee.  It is open to anyone – we have members who keep in touch this way from all over the world/UK.

We have held a wide range of events appealing to differing audiences. These include:-

  • Fireside Talks during the winter months
  • a “Gin and It” evening in May
  • tribute band open-air concerts in July
  • “Pimms in the Orchard” in August
  • our ever-popular Christmas events – “Sparkle at the Castle” and black-tie dinners and quiz suppers, with carols and mulled wine around the tree outside, for starters.
  • Songs of Praise services in the Church
  • Catwalk shows/clothes sales

… and much more.

Sadly Covid-19 has put all 2020 activities on hold (with the exception of the fireside talks which are conducted over zoom).   This has had a serious, adverse effect on fundraising income, as you will appreciate.   So, membership/subs are even-more important during this difficult period.

100 Club

To help with fundraising we have instigated a monthly 100 club draw.  Joining is easy.

We have a “virtual” board of 100 numbers and those who subscribe (using the attached application form) can choose any amount of numbers at £1 each per month, indicating a preference for particular ones, or asking us to allocate random numbers to them.

The preferred methods of payment are cheques or on-line BACs payment (see application form and rules)

The draws take place on 22nd of each month – or if there is a zoom event planned, it will take place then.

Please do buy numbers for yourselves and your family members as soon as possible.

Regular activities

The Gardening Club and walking group “off-shoots” of the FLC have continued to thrive, with trips to open gardens, garden centres and gathering to discuss gardening tips and ideas throughout the time before Covid struck.

You can see the current arrangements for the walking group elsewhere on the website.
